What I would like to do
AURORA'S FINANCIAL POSITION
I would like to continue to make Aurora’s solid financial position a priority as the Town transitions from the growth stage to a mature one.
I would like to continue to work closely with Town staff to see through to maturity my motion regarding Aurora’s cultural partners, initiated two years ago.
I moved to put in place a process and distribution model to
i) identify cultural partners providing key services to residents
ii) identify key performance indicators of those services
The model aims for the streamlined determination of where valuable resources should be allocated as well as allows cultural partners to engage in meaningful, long-term planning. It also enables our cultural partners’ strategy to align with the Town’s Cultural Master Plan and Tourism strategy
I would like to continue to contribute my vision for Library Square and to see this project through to completion.
I have had the privilege of working on this exciting project that was reinvigorated by my fellow Councillors. We have worked hard in consultation with many experts, as well as listening to the viewpoints of many fellow Aurorans. It is my hope that we will be able to come to a solid plan that will benefit all.
STRONACH LANDS: "MAIN STREET"
I would like to continue to work with the Stronach family over the next 4 years should they continue to leverage the input of Council and residents for their commercial-residential development on the existing “Magna lands”.
This ambitious development can only be described as Aurora’s next “Main Street”, providing a main commercial-residential-entertainment hub that has been long desired by residents.
I would like to continue to work with Town Staff and residents to ensure that the unique character of Aurora’s neighbourhoods is preserved to the most allowable extent while also ensuring that all the different voices of these neighbourhoods are heard.
AURORA (AND REGION) MARATHON
I would like to see Aurora host a world-class marathon.
As a long-distance runner who has completed 6 full marathons and many half-marathons, I appreciate the passion of many fellow Aurorans who run daily on our streets. With two new hotels being built over the next two years and an avid running base, this dream can very well be reality. I envision, perhaps, even partnering with South Lake Hospital for the event. Such an event would align with our Town’s sport tourism strategy.
MULTI-USE RECREATION CENTRE
I would like to continue to provide input into the design and function of this facility that would support the service levels required for our growing Town and its residents.
This Council has worked hard to find a location in Aurora that would facilitate a world-class multi-use (sport) recreation centre. We have found that location and are now just waiting on provincial approval. Envisioned are an Olympic-sized aquatics facility, soccer pitches, gymnasiums, racquet sport courts, ice pads and more!
